Relationships and Sex Education
Relationships, Sex and Health Education
As part of our extensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic programme we provide specific lessons concerning Healthy Relationships and Sex Education. We have consulted with our students on their needs and welcome any feedback from parents/ carers as we know you are the primary educators for this subject and we welcome your support.
Our RSHE programme has three main elements:
- Acquiring knowledge
- Developing life skills
- Considering attitudes and values
It has designated time within the curriculum delivered by tutors who know their students well and we also have involvement from outside agencies and our School Nurse.
We believe RSHE is lifelong learning about emotions, healthy relationships, sexual health and ourselves. Good quality RSHE provides consistent messages, is ongoing and progressive, and supports children and young people’s confidence. It helps them understand themselves, negotiate their relationships and prepares them for adulthood and on keeping safe.

Parents and Carers can withdraw young people from the non-statutory parts of the RSHE curriculum, but our experience is that the vast majority of parents and carers want their children to be involved with and enjoy this part of their school life where we can help prepare them for the issues they may face in the world of social media and outside pressures.
If you have any questions, please contact Miss M Hutchinson, PSHE Coordinator.
