Character Education

At Wolsingham School, we prioritise the wider personal development of our students. We know that good examination results are important for future success, however, we strongly value the development of the whole child. We strive to provide a fully rounded education where our students become great citizens who are prepared effectively for life in modern Britain. Part of our personal development offer includes our Wolsingham School Character Education programme. Our Character Education programme is built on our school moto of ‘fulfil your true potential’ and our four Core Values; Work Hard, Get Involved, Be Kind and Take Responsibility.

Research suggests that enabling character traits can improve educational attainment, engagement with school, attendance and increase the likelihood of success in the world of work. With that in mind, we worked collaboratively with our students to identify character traits that they believed would be critical to their success.

The character traits of a Wolsingham School student are; thinker, resilient, leader, confident, respectful, compassionate, responsible and honest. Every student at Wolsingham School will be provided with many opportunities to develop these traits through the curriculum, extracurricular events and many other personal development activities. Students will be documenting and evidencing their character development through the Character Education Journal.
