First Day

The idea of ‘big school’ can be very appealing for children, but it can also be quite frightening.

Whatever the reaction to school, remember that the teachers at Wolsingham will have seen it all before. We are familiar with children who are worried in their first few weeks.

You will most likely have visited the school during primary school activities or visits as well as our brilliant summer school.  This will help you find your way around but if you have never been to school before don’t worry! We will give you a map and a tour on your first day.

You will get a timetable to follow and this will be explained by your teacher too.  This will be the biggest change from primary school because you go to the teachers, they don’t come to you.

The school prefects and house captains will be on hand to show you around and point you in the right direction and your form teachers will explain how to use our on line homework system.

There will be a full programme of activities designed to help familiarise you with the school.  During the first week you will also go to dinner early to help you get used to the queues and payment system.

If in doubt ask a teacher – they don’t bite!
