Future Choices (Year 9 Options)
The Options process is an important time for our students; the decisions that they make will impact upon the next phase of their education.
Selecting appropriate options choices is crucial if our young people are to succeed in their studies, their exams and are to be prepared for life after Wolsingham School.
In order to ensure students and parents are supported through the options process, we have a Year 9 Options firefly page, assemblies, options evenings and 1:1 meetings with the Senior Leadership Team or Head of Year.
Broad and Balanced Curriculum – Core Subjects
All students are required to study mathematics, English language, English literature, Science and history or geography. Other subjects, such as core physical education, religious education and PSHE do not lead to examinations but remain valuable compulsory elements of the curriculum.
Options
In addition to this provision, in Year 9, students will choose options subjects to specialise in. We are proud of our Key Stage 4 curriculum offer and ensure every student at Wolsingham School receives a broad and balanced curriculum.
The English Baccalaureate (EBacc)
The English Baccalaureate is not a standalone qualification but is made up of different subjects. Pupils who study the English Baccalaureate will study: mathematics, English language, English literature, Science, a language (French or Spanish) and a humanities subject (history or geography).
